A pet parrot was rescued after a family were forced to flee when a fire broke out at their home in Ras Al Khaimah.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at a villa in the Al Muayrid area of the emirate on Tuesday.
Civil Defence said the fire, which was reported at noon, started in one room and spread throughout the property.
Family members fled their home immediately after raising the alarm.
The family's pet parrot was successfully rescued from the villa by the fire crew.
No injuries were reported, and investigations are under way to determine the cause of the fire.

Hydrogen: Market potential
Hydrogen has an estimated $11 trillion market potential, according to Bank of America Securities and is expected to generate $2.5tn in direct revenues and $11tn of indirect infrastructure by 2050 as its production increases six-fold.

Housed on the same site as the original Africa Hall, which first hosted an Arab-African Symposium in 1976, the newly renovated building will be home to a think tank and postgraduate studies hub (it will offer master’s and PhD programmes).
