DUBAI// A domestic worker who abducted and molested six-year-old girl was sentenced to one year in prison followed by deportation.
Pakistani R R, 29, snatched the girl while she was on her way to a party and took her to the roof of a building, where he committed the crime.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the child’s mother had sent her daughter to a party at a neighbour’s house, while she prepared to go herself.
Another child came to her house to say that her daughter had failed to arrive, so she started looking for her and found the girl in a corridor scared and upset.
Earlier that day, R R had approached the girl and asked for her name and address.
Then the child said while she was on the way to the party, R R had gagged her mouth and taken her to the roof.
When R R was confronted by the father of the child, he denied the accusation, claiming he had only taken her to bless her, which was a traditional practice in his home country.
The parents took the daughter to the hospital before filing a report at the police station.
When arrested, R R confessed to police, but denied the sexual assault when he appeared at court last month.
Policeman N A, 46, who interviewed the defendant, said that R R admitted the crime. “He told me he was deluded by the devil to do what he had done,” he said.
