SHARJAH // Two men have been arrested for stealing building materials from under-construction villas.
The men, one of whom is a Pakistani driver, allegedly stole electrical equipment and construction materials from villas in Al Suyoh, Sharjah.
Sharjah Police had received several reports of thefts and launched an investigation as well as increasing police patrols in the area.
One patrol stopped a lorry driven by the Pakistani man, who acted suspiciously when he was asked about the load he was carrying. The driver and passenger were taken in for questioning and police said they confessed to stealing construction materials from several villas in the area.
The pair have been referred to prosecutors to face trial.
Police urged construction companies to secure their working sites and hire secure teams to deter criminals from stealing.
