Occupation of UAE islands must be resolved, Bahrain tells UN assembly

Foreign minister criticised Iran's recent threats to the GCC countries.

Bahrain has reiterated the need to solve the issue of UAE's islands occupied by Iran, either through direct negotiations or by referring the issue to the International Court of Justice in the Hague.

Addressing the UN General Assembly session today, Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said the GCC countries had always been extending their hand to Iran. He also criticised Iran's recent threats to the GCC countries slamming them as "a breach of the principles of good neighbourliness which creates a state of tension and distrust in the region."
