ABU DHABI // Almost fifteen thousand Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the UAE are being recalled for a faulty ignition relay that could cause the engine to stall.
Cars affected are the Nissan Tiida, Armada and Pathfinder as well as the Infiniti QX56. The faulty vehicles were built between August 2003 and July 2006.
According to a statement issued by Nissan Middle East, no accidents have been reported.
Around 4576 affected models were sold in Abu Dhai and 9844 in Dubai. The recall affects almost 36,000 vehicles in the Gulf region.
Irregular electrical conduction within the engine can cause the vehicle to stall or not restart, the statement said.
Nissan asks that all owners of the affected models bring their car in for servicing. Nissan will exchange defective parts on certain models for free. The fix takes around a half an hour.

Nissan will recall a 834,759 vehicles of nine models in Japan, 761,528 vehicles in North America, 354,170 in Europe and 194,409 in China and Taiwan, a total of more than 2.1 million vehicles, for the same defect.
This is the third recall for Nissan Middle East this year. In July, more than a thousand Nissan Patrols were recalled for electronic problems that could affect the fuel supply and stall the engine
In March, a worldwide recall of 540,000 Nissans could have affected approximately 26,000 car owners in region.

Retail gloom
Online grocer Ocado revealed retail sales fell 5.7 per cen in its first quarter as customers switched back to pre-pandemic shopping patterns.
It was a tough comparison from a year earlier, when the UK was in lockdown, but on a two-year basis its retail division, a joint venture with Marks&Spencer, rose 31.7 per cent over the quarter.
The group added that a 15 per cent drop in customer basket size offset an 11.6. per cent rise in the number of customer transactions.
