It is important for citizens to strictly follow all instructions for their own safety, the ministry said.

Those travelling abroad are also advised to enroll in the Tawjdi (My Whereabouts) programme, and to read the travel advice page on the ministry’s website, www.mofa.gov.ae.

Violence has again struck Yemen amid a rebellion of Houthi rebels, who seized the government headquarters, in Sanaa, on Sunday. The country’s prime minister, Mohamed Basindawa, announced his resignation as as a result of the fighting.

The Houthis are from Yemen’s minority Zaidi Shiite community.
