DUBAI // Two men sentenced to 10 years in jail each for possessing more than six kilograms of heroin and 1.5kg of methamphetamine must see out their prison terms, Dubai Court of Appeal ruled.
Dubai Criminal Court had convicted Pakistanis B K, 39, and J K, 49, of possessing drugs and fined them Dh50,000 each.
Prosecutors said Dubai police were tipped off on February 14 last year and arrested B K at his home in Al Refaa. “We found drugs in his apartment and he told us that he had more in his car,” said police officer M N.
B K told police that he was asked by J K to accompany him to pick up the drugs from a Pakistani man in Mussaffah, Abu Dhabi, in return for Dh1,000.
J K was arrested at Sharjah airport trying to leave the country.
While he was being questioned, J K received two text messages from Pakistan with instructions related to the drugs.
The men will be deported after serving their jail terms.
