Abu Dhabi Prosecution has referred two Asian men to Abu Dhabi’s Criminal Court on charges of counterfeiting credit cards.

The men allegedly used the credit cards fraudulently and stole money with them.

The investigations of Abu Dhabi Prosecution found that the two suspects had entered the UAE on visit visas with forged credit cards with the intent to use them to buy costly goods.

They managed to buy a Dh 11,000 handbag with the cards.

They also attempted to purchase a Dh186,000 watch using different credit cards, with each paying a small part of the required price.

This aroused the suspicion of the salesman who informed authorities.

The suspects were found in possession of 53 fake credit cards when arrested and confessed that they possessed and used counterfeit credit cards to steal from people, it was claimed.

One of the men allegedly admitted he disposed of other cards when he asked to go to the bathroom at the police station.

An official said that the prosecution is working with authorities to counter financial crimes, urging shop owners to pay careful attention to credit cards, especially those issued outside the UAE, and report to the police any suspicious activity from users of such cards.
