ABU DHABI // More than 2,000 members of the media sector marched in support of the Year of Giving in the capital on Friday.
Organised by the National Media Council, the Walk to Give march was held with the aim of encouraging public volunteering and a culture of giving.
Heads of local media, government officials, celebrities and artists all took part in the 4-kilometre walk from Zayed Sports City to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and back.
They included Sheikh Theyab bin Khalifa bin Hamdan, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of NMC, Jaber Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, Mansour Al Mansouri, Director General of NMC, and Emirati singers Hussein Al Jasmi and Fayez Al Saeed.
Dr Al Jaber said the march reflected the media sector’s support for Government initiatives which have a positive effect.
“This reiterates our commitment to strengthening the partnership between the private and public sectors, all the while enhancing social responsibility efforts and promoting volunteer work to serve the nation,” he said.
