DUBAI // A man who he fell asleep in his car at a petrol station while high on drugs will spend four years in jail.

Staff at the Enoc station in Ras Al Khor tried to wake the 29-year-old Emirati before calling police on March 21. He also fell asleep in a patrol car as he was being driven away by officers.

Officers had to push the man’s car into a parking spot after failing to find the key. However, they did find 51 grammes of hashish and 48 drug capsules.

“We also found two knives, a stun gun and a glass pipe used for smoking hash,” testified a Pakistani police officer.

The defendant was taken to the anti-narcotics department where medical tests showed he had consumed hashish and alcohol.

In court last May he denied charges of possessing and consuming drugs. He also denied consuming alcohol and impersonating another after he gave police his brother’s name.

“I don’t know how the hashish was put in my car,” said the Emirati.

He was convicted by the Dubai Criminal Court and sentenced to jail time.
