DUBAI // A banker threatened to turn a woman’s life into ‘a living hell’ if she didn’t withdraw a restraining order she filled against him, a court heard.
Prosecutors said Egyptian AA, 35, had previously been in a relationship with American AQ, 32. After she broke up with him AA began calling and threatening her.
“We became friends after he knew that I had problems with my husband. He kept saying that we were meant for each other but I tried to end the relationship,” said AQ.
“He kept following me with his car and tracking my every move and following me to my home. I refused to answer his calls but he started calling me from different numbers,” she said.
AQ filed a restraining order against AA on April 30 this year.
Prosecutors said AA called AQ’s boss, Egyptian sales manager AT, 37.
“AA called me on my mobile and said that AQ and her children will lose their lives if she did not withdraw the complaint. AQ told me the threats started when she broke up with the defendant.”
At the Dubai Criminal Court AA denied a charge of issuing threats.
The next hearing is set on July 12.
