DUBAI // A drunk Saudi bought a knife and stabbed a bouncer because he was not allowed in to a nightclub as he was too young, a court heard on Tuesday.
Tourist MH, 20, allegedly bought the knife from a nearby supermarket on March 25 before using it to stab BA, 26, outside the club in Bur Dubai.
“The defendant came drunk to the nightclub where I work. I didn’t allow him to enter due to his age and MH started swearing at me and left the hotel,” said the Egyptian bouncer.
“He later came back and stabbed me from behind, in my shoulder.”
Receptionist AA told prosecutors that he saw the victim with another security guard talking to MH outside the hotel.
“I heard MH swearing and the hotel manager ordered me to call the police,” said 38-year-old AA.
Court records show that the Saudi dropped an iron stick (used for kebabs) and a security guard took it inside the hotel.
“While inside the hotel, I heard the nightclub cashier scream. I then turned around towards her and saw the defendant pulling out the knife from the back of BA, before stepping back and trying to stab him again,” the receptionist added.
The bouncer managed to push the Saudi back before other hotel security wrestled the attacker to the ground.
At Dubai Criminal Court on Tuesday, the Saudi denied the charge of attempted murder and he was remanded in custody.
The next hearing is on May 19.
