Man ‘shouted at officers he had killed friend’ Dubai court told



DUBAI // A 23-year-old Iranian stabbed a compatriot dozens of times then walked to the nearest police station and shouted at officers that he had killed his friend.

The Dubai Criminal Court heard that on March 15, 2014, the man stood in front of the gates to Bur Dubai police station dressed in bloodied clothes and screamed hysterically “I killed my friend, I killed my friend” until he was taken inside by officers.

A 55-year-old policeman said a patrol was sent to investigate the scene of the crime and found the body of an Iranian man in his 20s.

“He called me on the same day and told me he killed my brother and that he expects to be killed in revenge,” said the victim’s brother, who flew from Iran to Dubai four days after the incident.

“I asked him why he killed him, but he didn’t respond,” said the 33-year-old.

The victim died after being stabbed 35 times in the body, neck and chest. The defendant was also found to be have knife wounds to his hands and arms.

No further information was provided about the motive for the killing or why it took two years to get to court.

The next hearing will be in August.
