DUBAI // A metalworker sent inappropriate images of his former wife to her new husband and posted them on social media in the hope that it would lead him to divorce her.
At Dubai Criminal Court on Tuesday, the 42-year-old Pakistani denied charges of issuing threats and invading the privacy of his former wife by using pictures of her almost naked on Twitter, WhatsApp, Imo, Facebook and Google Plus.
A month after the Pakistani housewife’s second marriage, she said her husband received phone calls from her ex.
“He told him I was a bad woman and must be divorced or else he would cause us problems,” said the 24-year-old woman.
She said that her husband received several images of her, near naked, from her ex on the Imo app. Two days after receiving the images, the husband reported the incident to police.
Prosecutors said that 21 images of the woman were found on two smartphones – the wife’s and her former husband’s.
They also said that the accused confessed to charges during interrogations. But he denied them in court. A verdict is expected on August 21.
