Man lured by promise of sex is stabbed and robbed by gang

Bangladeshi had more than Dh7,000 stolen from him in an attack by six men, prosecutors at a Dubai court said.

DUBAI // Six men lured a man into a building by saying he could have sex with women there before stabbing him and stealing his money.

Bangladeshi MNA, 28, was walking alone in Naif, Deira, when countrymen MA, 35, and MYA, 24, stopped him to ask if he would like to have sex with women.

The victim said yes and accompanied the pair to a building near a hotel in the area on January 11, prosecutors said.

“Once inside the building, the duo dragged me under the stairs and then TA, 25, NA, 28, MM, 37, and RH, 29, [all from Bangladesh] arrived and demanded that I give them the money I have,” said MNA, an air-conditioning technician.

He added that the men started beating him up, then NA attacked him with a knife, hurting his left arm, while MM stabbed him in the chest.

“I fell unconscious and I woke up in the hospital,” said the victim.

Prosecutors said the gang stole Dh7,050 from the victim.

Emirati police officer AA, 32, said that they apprehended MA on January 18. “He admitted that he was assigned with MYA to lure the victim and bring him to settle a financial dispute between the victim and with MM,” the officer said.

A medical report stated that the defendant was stabbed with a sharp object but that his injuries did not result in a permanent disability.

At Dubai Criminal Court, NA, MM and RH entered not guilty pleas, while the other three defendants failed to appear in court to enter a plea.

The next hearing is scheduled for April 20.
