DUBAI // A man was caught with three marijuana rolls hidden inside a plaster cast on his broken left hand, the Criminal Court heard. Bangladeshi B S, 34, a painter, was arrested near Rashid Port on October 22 last year following a tip-off to police. “We received information that B S had been possessing and consuming drugs, so we formed an arrest team and obtained a warrant from prosecution,” testified A S, a sergeant with Dubai Police. When B S was arrested, officers opened the cast on his hand and found the rolls of marijuana inside. They later searched his house, where they found eight more rolls of the drug hidden in a cigarette box. In total, police confiscated 35.4 grams of marijuana from B S. Forensic tests proved the defendant had also consumed marijuana. B S was charged him with possession with the intent to sell and consuming drugs. Prosecutors said he confessed to both charges during interrogations. At the Criminal Court, however, he denied intent to sell, and only confessed to consuming cannabis. The next hearing will be on April 9. salamir@thenational.ae
