SHARJAH // A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a co-worker.

Sharjah police said Filipino JYR, who works at a company in industrial area 7, allegedly killed compatriot KT using a sharp metal object after a dispute between them on Tuesday morning.

Officers were alerted about the incident at 7.20am. The men lived in accommodation provided by the company and had personal problems, police said.

The public prosecutor ordered the victim’s body be transferred to the forensic labs at Sharjah police.

Deputy CID director Major Ibrahim Al Ajill said JYR travelled to Dubai after the incident. “During interrogations, the 40-year-old man said that he was planning to go to a hospital to receive treatment for a cut he sustained, afterwards he wanted to stay low until he can exit the country in the shortest time possible.”

JYR was referred to public prosecution to face trial.
