ABU DHABI // A man accused of being a member of a terrorist organisation claimed he was only “a tourist in Turkey”.
K T M, 41, an Emirati, is on trial at the Federal Supreme Court on charges of joining Jabhat Al Nusra, the Al Qaeda-affiliated group, where he received military and security training.
The court heard he participated in terrorist acts and knew of their harmful purposes.
K T M denied the charges.
“I was just visiting Turkey as a tourist. I remained there for a short period of time and came back,” he said.
His lawyer, Musallam Al Katheri, requested the court hears testimonies from two witnesses and the case was adjourned to June 15.
