A man is on trial at the Federal Supreme Court for a poem he allegedly shared on Whatsapp that ridiculed the UAE and its martyrs.
The Attorney General stated in court documents that the defendant broadcast information online with the intent of making a mockery of the country, its leadership and its martyrs in Yemen by calling them traitors and cowards.
S A, 29 from Oman allegedly posted an audio clip of a poem that contained the slanderous content in September last year.
The accused is being tried under the UAE’s cybercrime law number 5 of 2012 which criminalises all forms of electronic abuse.
The case was adjourned to February 2.
