ABU DHABI // ‎A man who dialled a wrong number while attempting to phone his friend insulted the woman who answered, the Appeals Court heard on Sunday.

AG, an Emirati, was accused of texting the woman verbal insults after he called her by mistake.

He argued he did not know the woman so had no reason to insult her.

“I was calling the man, I don’t know this woman and I have never seen her before,” he told the court.

Prosecutors claimed AG sent the woman inappropriate statements and photos.

His defence attorney argued that when the messages were captured from the woman’s phone by Etisalat, no inappropriate statements or photos were found.

A verdict will be announced on April 19.
