DUBAI // A Pakistani man accused of detaining a Filipina woman against her will pleaded not guilty yesterday at the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance. The woman, RB, 27, told prosecutors she was waiting for a taxi outside her home in Satwa at 9am on May 29 when the defendant, OW, 24, offered her a ride to work at Dubai Creek Park. Once she was in the car, the accused offered to pay her for sex, RB said. When she refused, OW locked the doors, parked the vehicle and began molesting her. RB begged him not to rape her and agreed to sleep with him if he would take her to work first so she could sign in.
He agreed, but kept her purse to ensure her return. When the woman got out of the car, she ran to the administration building sobbing, according to the testimony of the watchman on duty. The accused left the car park before police arrived, but had given RB his mobile phone number. The case has been adjourned until Aug 26 to allow the defendant time to hire a lawyer.
