ABU DHABI // The UAE public sector will enjoy a long weekend for Al Israa wal Miraj holiday.

The public holiday has been moved to Thursday, May 5, and working will resume on Sunday, May 8, for the public sector.

The Federal Authority of Government Human Resources passed on its greetings to the President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and to the Rulers of the emirates.

The decision to move the holiday is allowed under the provisions of a Cabinet decision in 2008. It states public holidays for ministries and federal institutions can be moved to the beginning or to the end of the week if it falls between two working days.
