Lock up your homes and keep valuables safe, holidaymakers told

Al Ain Police are partnering with the Civil Defence to inform residents of the precautions needed to ensure homes are protected against burglary, fire and other forms of damage during the holiday season.

"The number of burglaries rises in the summer season because some people do not secure their homes properly before they travel abroad," said Capt Saeed Al Shabli, of Al Jimi police station. All valuables should be kept in the bank or in a hidden safe inside the house, he said.

The police also said power and gas should be cut off before travelling.
