Lawyer cleared of head-butting Dubai Police officer

A lawyer was cleared of resisting then head-butting a police officer and punching another by Dubai Criminal Court this week.

Police were sent to the 32-year-old Egyptian’s home after his ex-wife reported him to Dubai Personal Status Court for not abiding by the court’s decision and giving her their daughter’s passport

Two policemen said they approached the man as he left his building in Hudaiba on July. They said after identifying themselves the man allegedly began screaming at them then resisted arrest before assaulting them.
In court, the defendant denied charges of resisting arrest and assaulting police officers and told judges that he was assaulted by the officers who tore his clothes.
"I swear to god that they assaulted me your honour," the accused said in court.
The man was cleared of all charges.
