SHARJAH // A 75-year-old Kuwaiti man has drowned while swimming at Al Khan Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National, reported that police received a call to say a swimmer was in difficulty at sea.
Officers and ambulance crews arrived to find that the man had been rescued from the water but was lying motionless on the shore.
He was taken to Kuwait Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
His body was transferred to Sharjah’s forensic laboratory to determine the cause of death.
Sharjah Police urged the public not to go to beaches where swimming is prohibited for their own safety.
Police also reminded beachgoers to pay heed to any alerts not to enter the sea.
