Iraqi woman tells Dubai court she was tricked into smoking hashish
DUBAI // An Iraqi woman claimed in court that she had been tricked into smoking hashish after her friend gave her a cigarette laced with the drug.
Emirati policeman M A, 37, testified that he arrested Z H, 26, at her home in Mirdif after receiving a tip off that she was a drug user.
He said: “We searched her car and house and found no trace of hashish. However, we found some pills but she said they were for medicinal purposes.”
The policeman went on to say she had confessed to inadvertently smoking hashish after it was given to her by M S.
However, a character witness for M S denied these accusations.
“Z H and M S are friends that had a few disagreements with each other,” he told the court.
“One time, M S told me to stay away from Z H. When I told Z H this, she got furious and really mad and promised to take revenge.”
On January 17 this year, police arrested M S while he was shopping in a mall and found hashish in his car and home.
When he was asked if he knew anyone else who took the drug, he said he had smoked it with Z H three days earlier.
The next hearing will be held on May 29.
