DUBAI // The investigation into the crash landing of Emirates flight EK521 could take up to three years, aviation authorities said on Sunday.
The Boeing 777 aircraft, which was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew, crashed on August 3 as it landed at Dubai International Airport from Thiruvananthapuram in India.
Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said that the investigation could continue until 2019.
He said the authority was likely to introduce “some precautionary measures” before then, without specifying what those measures would be.
Twenty four of those aboard the plane were injured and an Emirati fireman, Jassim Al Baloushi, died in an explosion while tackling the blaze.
