Recruitment agencies have confirmed that Indonesian domestic helpers are still allowed into the UAE and can obtain visas as usual, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.

Agency executives said procedures to recruit Indonesians are the most expensive, reaching up to Dh17,500, compared with Dh14,000 for Filipinas and Dh7,000 to Dh9,000 for African helpers.

Rihab Ghorayb, a recruitment executive, said the Indonesian government has not issued a ban and that demand is growing for African helpers from Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
