More than 15,000 tribesmen from across the UAE are expected to take part in this year's Zayed Heritage Festival.

The annual event, held in Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi from November 29, will include live music, art exhibits and dancing.

The March of the Tribesman is the festival’s flagship event, with tribes coming together from across the country to celebrate their cultural heritage.

“We received more than 100 calls from different tribes,” said Rashed Al Neyadi, a member of the organising committee for the festival.

“So we’re expecting around 15,000 tribesmen for the march and add to that a total of 20,000 people involved in all the shows.

“We also expect royals from other countries to attend, especially since it will fall after the Formula 1 weekend [in the capital].

“Last year we had the Saudi Arabia’s King Salman.”

The Zayed Heritage Festival is named in honour of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed.

The event is held over two months, with the March of the Tribesman scheduled for December 3.

The last few years has seen the festival expand to include international heritage attractions, a theme park, motor shows and a children’s playground. This year, 40 countries are due to take part.
