FUJAIRAH // Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightening lead to road closures and flooding in Fujairah on Tuesday night.
Murbah, Qidfa and Sakamkam flooded due to the downpour with police announcing the closure of Yabsa Bypass road leading to Sakamkam.
“We received several calls regarding roads flooding in low-lying areas such as Merbeh, Qidfa and Sakamkam but everything is under control and no damage were reported until now,” said Col Ali Al Tunaiji, Director of Fujairah Civil Defence Department.
He said police are on high alert to ensure the safety of residents and asked that residents steer clear of valleys and dams in such weather.
Rain is expected to sweep into the remaining emirates throughout the evening with thundershowers forecast on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.
