The international drugs company GlaxoSmithKline has responded to a product recall by the Ministry of Health and begun to replace Panadol for Baby and Infant in pharmacies.

A fresh shipment of Panadol Baby and Infant reached Dubai on Monday and it is expected to take two days to replace the product on shelves, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.

The Ministry of Health recalled the drug on May 14 due to a mistake on the labelling regarding the prescribed dosage, which could induce overdose and liver poisoning in children.

The ministry said it is closely following the recall and replacement.
