The expansion of licensed healthcare facilities in Dubai is continuing at pace as a further 171 centres obtained formal accreditation along with 6,139 health professionals in the first half of 2015.
Dubai Health Authority has issued new licences for three hospitals, four day-surgery centres, 87 polyclinics, 62 pharmacies, four diagnostic facilities and 11 other healthcare centres.
Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, director of DHA’s health regulation department, has also reviewed protocols to regulate the emirate’s health sector and the mechanisms to ensure care facilities comply with international standards.
“The procedures for obtaining a professional practice licence shall be through an online application to the health regulation department,” she said.
“This coordinates with the concerned authorities to evaluate and verify the certifications, and hold online examinations for applicants who desire to obtain profession practice licensing.”
The 6,139 newly licensed healthcare professionals include 1,044 physicians, 2,791 nurses, 1,868 allied healthcare professionals, 419 dentists and 17 alternative medicine specialists.
