DUBAI // Labourers are being offered free health screenings this month by Dubai Health Authority as part of its annual labour camp wellness programme.
It is the fourth consecutive year the screenings will have been held, with health experts scrutinising the social, psychological and medical needs of the men in Dubai.
This year, DHA is also organising free hair cuts and free dental kits are to be given out.
Dr Shamsa Abdullah bin Hammad, head of the DHA’s community health services programme, said: “It includes free dental and medical check-ups such as blood pressure, blood sugar, blood cholesterol, and body mass index (BMI).
“Health educators will explain to workers the complications of heat stress and other heat-related disorders. They will be educated about ways to protect themselves from dehydration and the harmful effects of the sun. Besides this, we will also educate them about diabetes and other non-communicable diseases.”
