Coronavirus: three more recover in the UAE
Two Emiratis and an Indian bring total number of recovered cases to 23 says Ministry of Health and Prevention
The Ministry of Health and Prevention said on Saturday that three people had fully recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 23.
Two Emiratis and an Indian are now "symptom-free" after receiving the necessary treatment, Wam reported.
Authorities have called on senior citizens to stay at home and avoid crowded places, as the UAE government ordered some federal employees to work remotely to stem the spread of Covid-19.
The advice is part of a raft of measures introduced by the UAE, including the closure of schools across the country for a month, a ban on events and the shutdown of nightclubs in Abu Dhabi to prevent large gatherings, as per a circular issued by The Department of Culture and Tourism in the emirate on Friday.
On Saturday, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced it was halting all flights to and from Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Turkey from March 17 until further notice. On Friday, the UAE also announced the suspension of all flights to and from Italy, with the exception of Rome.
All passengers arriving from Rome International Airport are required to undergo preventative medical tests to ensure they are free of the virus.
