SHARJAH // A fund has been set up in the memory of Pink Caravan director Ameera bin Karam by Sharjah’s first lady to raise money for the treatment of cancer patients worldwide.

Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the ruler of Sharjah, said the “Ameera Fund” is in recognition of bin Karam - also the chairwoman of the Sharjah Business Women Council - who died in a fire at her home this month. She was 38 and died alongside her mother and sister in the fire at their home in Al Qadisiyah, Sharjah.

“The move aims to memorialise her tireless compassionate efforts and to urge others to follow her voluntary and charitable approach in supporting cancer patients in the UAE and beyond,” said Sheika Jawaher.

She called for individuals and organisations in the UAE and abroad to contribute, following in the footsteps of bin Karam, who devoted a lot of her life through the Pink Caravan to supporting cancer patients who could not afford treatment.

Donations can be made through the main branch of Sharjah Islamic Bank, via account number 0034-430430-015, IBAN: AE740410000034430430015, or by calling 06 594 1283.
