DUBAI // Adults have been warned they are in need of vaccinations as much as children as part of a campaign by the Dubai Health Authority.
They have also been advised to ensure any vaccinations are up to date before any travel plans.
High risk individuals such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with cancer or a chronic disease are also advised to visit a doctor to check any vaccines they need are up to date.
Dr Laila Al Dabal, head of infectious diseases unit at Rashid Hospital, said: “Studies have shown not all vaccines are effective for life.
“The general span of effectiveness of a vaccine can range from a year to 10 years. For example, a flu vaccine is a yearly vaccine and is given during the flu season.”
The DHA’s traveler clinics are located in Al Mankhool and Al Barsha health centres, and open from Sunday to Thursday, from 7.30am to 2.30pm.
