The veterinary laboratory of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has become the first to be globally accredited to detect the coronavirus.
ADFCA was certified to detect the virus in camels by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
Dr Salama Al Muhairi, director of veterinary laboratories department at ADFCA, said the lab strives to develop diagnostic tests for the detection of diseases in order to protect animal health in the emirate.
ADFCA has recently signed a cooperation agreement with the World Organisation for Animal Health as part of the authority’s goal that its laboratories be a reference centre for camel diseases in the Middle East.
