DUBAI /// A Gulf national in his 20 has been charged with raping an African woman after threatening to kill her and burn down her home if she didn’t sleep with him.
Dubai public prosecution said the man, an employee, broke into the victim’s home at night, went to her bedroom and woke her up using a Taser gun. The victim said he wasn’t behaving normally and he was asking about her sister.
The prosecution called for maximum penalty for the rape charge and imprisonment for up to 7 years for threatening to kill and set fire to the victim's house, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.

Who was Alfred Nobel?
The Nobel Prize was created by wealthy Swedish chemist and entrepreneur Alfred Nobel.
- In his will he dictated that the bulk of his estate should be used to fund "prizes to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind".
- Nobel is best known as the inventor of dynamite, but also wrote poetry and drama and could speak Russian, French, English and German by the age of 17. The five original prize categories reflect the interests closest to his heart.
- Nobel died in 1896 but it took until 1901, following a legal battle over his will, before the first prizes were awarded.
