DUBAI // The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate in Dubai will open again to the public on Sunday.

The UAE missions had been closed since August 2, along with 19 other American diplomatic missions in the Middle East and North Africa.

They were shut as a precautionary measure because of intelligence pointing at a possible Al Qaeda terrorist attack.

All of the missions apart from the US embassies in Sana'a, Yemen, and Lahore, Pakistan, will reopen today.

"Our embassy in Sana'a, Yemen, will remain closed because of ongoing concerns about a threat stream indicating the potential for terrorist attacks emanating from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula," a spokesman for the US state department said.
