ABU DHABI // The UAE has been the largest aid donor to Yemen this year.

Representing 31 per cent of the global total, the UAE ranked first in aid donors to the humanitarian crisis.

The Financial Tracking Service – which is managed by the United Nations and records all reported aid – showed the UAE provided Dh508.7 million out of Dh1.650 billion contributed.

The aid given to Yemen from the United States was 16.6 per cent of the total, while the UK provided 10.3 per cent.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, said the recognition emphasised the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian work and that providing aid had become a hallmark of the country’s efforts in that field.
