ABU DHABI // The Martyrs Family Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court has approved activities for Commemoration Day.
The office will use a hashtag, “We will never forget their sacrifices,” to encourage social participation on the occasion, which falls on November 30.
Commemoration Day events will start at 8am with the lowering of the UAE flag across the country.
This will be followed by a minute of silence starting at 11.30am, after which the UAE flag will be raised again, with the playing of the national anthem.
Commemoration Day is called Martyrs’ Day in Arabic.
The decision to mark Commemoration Day came in light of the UAE’s participation in the Saudi-led coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen. Seventy members of UAE forces have died while fulfilling their duties as part of the operation.
