Dubai's Dar Al Ber Society has sent a shipment of aid and food supplies to the parts of Sudan devastated by recent floods as part of a wider UAE campaign to support those affected.

Khalfan Al Mazrouei, chairman of the board of directors at the Society, said the aid comprised about 100 tonnes of food, 100 tents and 209 boxes of clothing, which will be distributed in co-operation with partners in Sudan.

"The humanitarian aid that will arrive soon in Sudan will be provided to families affected by the floods," Mr Mazrouei said.

The floods have killed more than 100 Sudanese and damaged 166,000 homes.
