ABU DHABI // The Ministry of Labour has begun phasing out typing centres for labour card services.

The ministry has granted Tasheel services centres in Abu Dhabi complete exclusivity in providing cancellation services starting April 6, the state news agency, Wam, reported.

The move is part of the second phase of the ministry’s plan to gradually withdraw services from typing centres and restricting them to the seven available Tasheel centres in the capital.

“Restricting cancellation services, which vary between 18 types, to Tasheel service centres came after the ministry’s in-depth research as well as the guidance of Saqr Ghobash, the Minister of Labour,” said Humaid bin Deemas Al Suwaidi, the ministry’s undersecretary for labour affairs.

“It led us to determine the performance of Tasheel service centres by testing them during the first phase, which was limited to issuing, renewing and modifying all data related to labour cards.”

He said customer satisfaction was a key indicator to determine the quality of services provided.

“The ministry is keen on recording customer satisfaction to develop services to meet their aspirations,” he said. “It is committed towards providing support to all service centres to facilitate processes.”

Khalil Khouri, the director of Tasheel services centres in Abu Dhabi, said the centres’ services will include general cancellation of labour cards because of contagious diseases, death or travelling outside the UAE for more than six months.

There are seven Tasheel centres in Abu Dhabi, including in Muamalat Centre on Sheikh Zayed the First Street, Enjazat Services in the Mussaffah Industrial Area and Joud Public Services Centre on Mussaffah Street.

Others can be found in the Creative Centre on Al Muroor Road, Infiniti Service Centre in Marina Mall, Union International Typing Centre in Al Zahiyah area and the Irada Service Centre located on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street.
