ABU DHABI // The UAE has donated seven four-wheel drive vehicles to Aden governorate in Yemen to help shore up security there.
The Toyota FJ Cruisers were received by the southern Yemeni city’s chief of security, Shallal Shaea, reported Wam, the state news agency.
Mr Shaea said the vehicles were part of the UAE’s overall contribution to Yemen’s services and security, which he said has improved the lives of citizens, who face difficult circumstances.
“This assistance will leverage capabilities of security agencies to achieve security and safety, save lives and protect people and their properties,” he said.
He thanked members of the Arab coalition supporting Yemen, particularly the UAE, for standing with the Yemeni people and playing a significant role in improving essential services in Aden and other governorates.
Aden’s undersecretary, Mohamed Naser Al Shazali, attended a ceremony to hand over the vehicles. He said much of the progress in the governorate’s security and counter-terrorism efforts is owned to the Arab coalition’s support.
