UAE condemns acts of terror in Afghanistan

The suicide attacks carried out by ISIL on Thursday killed at least 41 people

The United Arab Emirates has condemned suicide attacks against an office of the Afghan Voice News Agency and a neighbouring cultural centre in the capital Kabul by ISIL on Thursday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed the country's vehement condemnation of these acts of terror.

In a statement, the ministry affirmed the UAE's utter and steadfast rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism which target all without distinction as to religion or ethnicity.

It also reiterated the UAE's call on the international community to close ranks and uproot the evil of terrorism which threatens international peace and stability.

The UK and the US also condemned the attacks, which killed at least 41 people and injured many more.

“I am appalled by this despicable attack on a cultural centre in Kabul which has claimed so many innocent lives, and my heartfelt condolences go out to the victims and their families," Britain's Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said.

“We remain determined in our resolve to help the Afghan people overcome terror and we are committed to supporting the Afghan Government in seeking a brighter future for its people."

While US press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: “The United States strongly condemns today’s barbaric attack at a cultural and social center in Kabul, Afghanistan, and offers its deepest condolences to the victims and their families.
