Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, met with France’s minister of Armed Forces, Florence Parly, on Sunday to discuss closer military and defence ties. Sheikh Mohammed and Ms Parly reviewed joint cooperation and coordination between the countries’ military and defense activities. The French embassy said that Ms Parly also visited the “5th regiment of cuirassiers where the minister was able to see the power of the means present and meet the men and women of the armed forces who work for the stability of the region”. French military has been located at Abu Dhabi since 2009, known as the Camp de la Paix or Peace Camp. The facilities include a 900-foot section of Zayed Port for use by the French navy, an airforce base at Dhafra and barracks at an Abu Dhabi military camp that houses about 400 military personnel from France, according to the defence organisation Federation of American Scientists. Ms Parly also paid a visit to the Wahat al-Karama (Martyrs' Memorial), a monument dedicated to the UAE soldiers who died for their country. _________________ Read more:
