SHARJAH // Citizens who earn Dh20,000 a month or less can now apply for furniture allowance, it was announced on Thursday.
Jasim Ahmed, director of the Emiri Court in Kalba, said Emiratis living in Sharjah and from the emirate were entitled to submit furniture allowance applications at the Emiri Court headquarters.
Assistance will be given to those who receive housing aid from the emirate, as well as locals who built their homes with their own funds, Mr Ahmed said.
A fixed sum of money will go to those who fall into the former group, Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National, reported.
The initiative was revealed on Sharjah radio’s Direct Line programme after a resident made an enquiry.
