ABU DHABI // The logo for Emirati Women’s Day has been approved by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
The logo depicts the country’s flag with an illustration of a woman on one section, said Wam, the state news agency.
Earlier this year, August 28 was declared Emirati Women’s Day. The date marks the creation of the GWU in 1975, and is considered a chance to celebrate Emirati women’s achievements since the group was founded.
The GWU was supported by the founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, and continues to be supported by President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the Rulers of the Emirates, said Wam.
