ABU DHABI // Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, awarded the Second Class Rescue Medal to an Ajman policeman for rescuing a man from drowning in Sharjah.
Sheikh Saif presented the award to First Warrant Officer Rashid Al Raaisi, for saving a young man who almost drowned at Al Hamriya beach due to fatigue, in his office on Tuesday.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised Mr Al Raaisi’s bravery, adding that his actions reflected the nobility of the UAE people who extend a helping hand to anyone in need, reported state news agency Wam.
Mr Al Raaisi expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Saif but insisted his actions were but part of his “humanitarian and national duty to serve his homeland”.
