DUBAI // Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, opened the Women in the World Summit in Dubai on Tuesday.
The summit was organised by the General Electric Company, with the participation of several prominent female figures from around the world.
The event was attended by the likes of Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Noura Al Kaabi, Chief Executive Officer of the Media Zone Authority - Abu Dhabi (twofour54), Princess Reema bint Bandar Al-Saud, Founder of Beit Al Khair Foundation and Tina Brown, Founder and CEO of Tina Brown Live Media and Founder of the Women in the World Forum.
The forum was vocally supported by the emirate's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, who has said the UAE is keen to empower women by encouraging them to assume leadership positions. He praised the achievements of Emirati women in the public sector where they make up 66 per cent of the federal workforce.
